Tim Fowler: Colour, Culture & Expressive Abstraction
Tim Fowler is a celebrated contemporary artist known for his bold, semi-abstract paintings that fuse vivid colour with layered textures and spontaneous mark-making. Working with oil, acrylic, enamel, and spray paint, he deconstructs his subjects—often portraits or botanical forms—and rebuilds them in expressive compositions that invite personal interpretation.
Inspired early on by the life and work of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Tim pursued a BA in Fine Art and developed a dynamic, intuitive style rooted in cultural identity and emotional energy. His vibrant skull series, Memento Mori – 100 Skulls, sold out within hours, while his large-scale botanical works were born from a fascination with tropical plants and further developed through Arts Council England-funded research into his Caribbean heritage.
Tim’s work has been exhibited and collected in the UK, Europe, and the USA. His collectors include Touch light Genetics, BT, New Walk Museum in Leicester, and singer-songwriter Mahalia. Through every canvas, he explores the powerful connections between nature, identity, and human emotion.
