Inspired by her love of nature, Mel’s art celebrates the vibrant beauty of hummingbirds—each piece capturing their unique colour, form, and energy. Working from her own photographs taken while visiting family in the U.S., she blends imagination with observation to bring these delicate creatures to life on canvas.

Using mixed media and layers of texture, Mel’s shimmering backgrounds often feature touches of gold or copper leaf, adding depth and “pazazz” to her radiant compositions. Now based in rural Norfolk, she paints from her home studio, drawing inspiration from peaceful coastal walks and the natural world that surrounds her.
